Vela · Privacy Policy

Anonymous by design.

Last updated: April 26, 2026 Effective at App Store launch

The short version

Vela is anonymous. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no email, no password, no analytics SDK, no advertising tracker. The only data Vela ever transmits off your device is a randomly-generated device identifier and an Apple Push Notification token — both used only to deliver the alerts you explicitly opt into.

If you don't follow any markets, Vela transmits nothing.

What we collect

Anonymous device identifier. When you first launch Vela, the app generates a random UUID. This identifier is stored on your device and sent to our servers when you follow a market or update your push preferences. It is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, or any third-party identifier. It is not shared with anyone outside Vela's own infrastructure (Cloudflare).

Apple Push Notification token. If you grant push permission, iOS generates a token Apple uses to deliver notifications to your device. We send this token to Apple alongside the alerts you've opted into. Like the device identifier, it is not linked to your identity.

The list of markets you've followed. Stored on our server, associated only with the anonymous device identifier above. Used solely to send you the notifications you asked for. Deleted when you unfollow the market or delete the app.

Server logs. Standard HTTP request logs (timestamp, IP address, URL path) generated automatically by Cloudflare for each API call. Retained for 30 days for abuse detection and debugging. IP addresses are not linked to your device identifier in our systems.

What we do NOT collect

What third parties receive

Cloudflare hosts our API and CDN. They see the same standard HTTP logs described above (timestamp, IP, URL). Their privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

Apple is the carrier for push notifications. The push token they generate is shared with us so we can deliver the alerts you opted into. Their privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy.

Polymarket and Kalshi are the source of market data Vela displays. Vela queries their public APIs the same way any reader does; your device identifier is never sent to them. We have no business relationship with either platform.

That's the full list. No analytics provider. No advertising network. No CRM. No email vendor. No A/B testing service. No crash reporter that aggregates user data.

What we do with what we collect

How long we keep it

Your rights

Because Vela has no accounts, there is no profile to access, export, correct, or delete. Your relationship with the app is entirely device-local plus the anonymous identifier described above.

To stop transmitting any data:

  1. Open Vela → Settings → Disable notifications.
  2. Unfollow any markets you've followed.
  3. Delete the app from your device.

That removes Vela's ability to send you anything and triggers server-side cleanup of the records associated with your device identifier.

If you want explicit confirmation that your records have been deleted, or have any other privacy question, email us: hello@q-starr.app. We respond within 7 days.

Children

Vela is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian believes their child has used Vela, contact us and we will delete any associated record.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change what data Vela collects or how we use it, we will update this page and bump the "Last updated" date. For substantive changes — adding a new analytics provider, changing data retention, expanding what we collect — we will also push a notice in-app on next launch and require you to acknowledge before continuing.
